Over 30 years of experience in financial markets across Europe and the Americas. A graduate of the London School of Economics, he began his career in Spanish equities at Hoare Govett and Goldman Sachs before moving into emerging markets at Barings, Santander, Dresdner Kleinwort Benson and BBVA.
From 2005, he led emerging technology transactions at Nomura in London, executing deals across biotechnology, energy and medtech in European markets.
In 2013 he founded Checkpoint Partners, a specialist financial adviser to innovative Spanish companies in M&A and capital raising.
Over 30 years of experience in capital markets and corporate development. An Industrial Engineer from Universidad de los Andes with an MBA from INALDE, he has held senior positions at Baring Securities in Bogotá and New York, Santander Investment in Colombia, and the private banking and asset management division of UBS in Panama.
A trusted adviser on cross-border transactions between Latin America and Europe, with engagements including Colombina’s expansion into the Spanish market. He currently advises several family offices on the management of their financial asset portfolios.
Over 20 years of experience in equity research and asset management. A graduate in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, he began his career as a Latin American equity analyst at Santander Investment, where he worked on M&A transactions during the bank’s regional expansion — including the acquisitions of Banespa and Serfin.
He subsequently co-founded Diverso, a boutique investment bank focused on renewable energy that delivered returns of over $80M from an initial investment of $5M. He has since focused on emerging technologies across Europe and Asia.
Over 20 years of experience as Chief Financial Officer in the financial and industrial sectors. A graduate of the Escuela Europea de Negocios and INSEAD’s International Executive Programme, he is fluent in English and French.
He spent the majority of his career at CEPSA, where he led projects across South America and North Africa and participated in exploration and production acquisitions totalling $1.3bn in transaction value. He has since worked as an independent adviser on real estate and corporate transactions, and is a founding partner of Idonae Promociones.
A professional with over 35 years of experience in infrastructure, water and energy projects in more than 80 countries of America, Europe, Middle East and Africa. He worked for 12 years as Senior Director of International Sales in different global engineering and EPC companies. Previously, he joined Citibank as financial analyst before becoming director of the Oil & Gas division in Expansion Exterior, a Spanish consultancy firm.
He also became partner at Checkpoint Partners and worked in other spanish construction companies in advisory and non executive positions. More recently joined the new venture Lantania as Managing Director of International Sales.
Joaquin received a BSc in Economics and Business Administration from ICADE Business School and a MSc in Energy Sciences. He was also associate professor of ICADE Business School.
